Confined Space

1) The Level 2 Award at Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces

This is a competence-based qualification that allows learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge associated with working in low risk confined space environments. The qualification is designed to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and practical skills associated with working in low risk confined spaces. Assessment is carried out using a written examination and a practical skills test.

2) WORKING IN LOW-RISK CONFINED SPACES

The aim of this unit is to assess learners against the national standard in working in a realistic low risk confined space environment.
The learner will be able to: prepare to work in a low risk confined space; enter and exit the confined space safely; use equipment and tools; follow procedures; and deal with emergencies that arise during operations. The learner must undertake the assessment in an efficient and safe manner. They must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of low risk confined spaces, and must demonstrate the appropriate practical skills, through a mix of practical observation and written assessment.

3) The Level 2 Award in Working in Medium Risk Confined Spaces (Top Person) (Non-Entrant)

This is a competence-based qualification that allows learners to demonstrate the skills and knowledge associated with carrying out top person activities for those working in medium risk confined space environments.
The qualification is designed to provide learners with the underpinning knowledge and practical skills associated with acting as a top person for those working in medium risk confined spaces. Assessment is carried out using a written examination and practical skills test.

4) WORKING IN MEDIUM RISK CONFINED SPACES

The aim of this unit is to assess learners against the national standard in working in a realistic medium risk confined space environment.
The learner will be able to: prepare to work safely in a medium risk confined space; enter and exit the confined space safely; prepare and use appropriate respiratory protective equipment; use equipment and tools safely; follow procedures; and deal with emergencies that arise while working in a medium risk confined space. They must also undertake the assessment in an efficient and safe manner. The learner must demonstrate sufficient knowledge and understanding of medium risk confined spaces, and must demonstrate the appropriate practical skills, through a mix of practical observation and written assessment.
