1) NRSWA Full 5-day course (Supervisors/Operatives)

This course is aimed at providing learners with the skills and knowledge to carry out their operative/supervisor duties in-line with the current New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Act & HAUC manual to ensure their own safety and quality of work. Delivery of this course is designed around interactive classroom-based tutorials and group exercises with continual written and practical assessments.

Course Content:

The NRSWA training course content includes:

• Location of underground apparatus.
• Signing, lighting, and guarding.
• Excavation in the highway.
• Reinstatement of compaction and backfill materials.
• Reinstatement of sub-base and road base non-bituminous materials.
• Reinstatement of cold-lay bituminous materials.
• Reinstatement of hot-lay bituminous materials.
• Reinstatement of concrete slabs.
• Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete footways.

NRSWA Signing, Lighting and Guarding 1Day/2Day (Supervisors/Operatives)

This course is aimed at providing learners with the skills and knowledge to carry out their operative/supervisor duties to erect and dismantle temporary traffic control in-line with the current New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Act & Code of Practice to ensure safety of their own, pedestrians and Traffic during works. Delivery of this course is designed around interactive classroom-based tutorials and group exercises with continual written and practical assessments.

Couse Content:

• New Roads and Street Works Act
• Signing, lighting, and guarding Principles
• Traffic control measures.
• Practical use of the Code of Practice.
• Portable traffic lights.
• Practical use of equipment.

NRSWA Location of underground apparatus

Location of Underground Apparatus- 1 Day

This course is aimed at providing learners with the skills and knowledge to carry out cable avoidance works in-line with the current New Roads and Street Works (NRSWA) Act & HSG47 to ensure safety for all. Delivery of this course is designed around interactive classroom-based tutorials, discussions and group exercises with progress tests.

Course Content:

Location and avoidance of underground apparatus

• New Roads & Street Works Act
• Location and avoidance of underground services Principals
• Hazard identification and the risks associated with them.
• Reading and interpreting site plans.
• Practical use of equipment.
• HSG47

NRSWA Refresher Courses

This two-day New Roads & Street Works Act (NRSWA) Refresher course is for both Operatives and Supervisors who have experience of working on highways and who already hold a current SWQR but it requires renewing.
