This qualification is designed for Construction Supervisors/Gangers who contribute to the supervision of construction activities. This is not a course but an assessment of competence for Construction work supervisors to prove their organisational, Supervisory and Technical abilities. Supervisors need to be able to establish and develop and maintain good working relationships with workers.
Prior to enrolment for this course, we require proof of competence against your trade or evidence of previous work in that trade.
Mandatory Units
- Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace.
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace.
- Co-ordinating and organising work operations in the workplace.
- Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace.
- Implementing and maintaining health, safety, environmental and welfare practices in the workplace.
- Monitoring progress of work against schedules in the workplace
Optional Units
- Allocating and monitoring the use of plant, machinery, equipment, or vehicles in the workplace.
- Confirming work meets contractual, industry and manufacturers' standards in the workplace.
- Co-ordinating and confirming the dimensional control requirements of the work in the workplace.
- Implementing procedures to support team performance in the workplace.
Method
- Once the enrolment process is complete, you will be paired with an assessor.
- The assessor will conduct the initial induction and will work with you to develop your portfolio and map out how each unit can be completed.
- Throughout the NVQ, the assessor will continuously review your progress to make sure that you are on track to completion.
- The assessor will monitor the learner through a variety of ways, such as written questions, professional discussions, evidence generated from the workplace, observations, and witness testimonials. The qualification course structure incorporates a selection of mandatory units.
- You will need to complete all the required units of the NVQ by providing sufficient evidence for each one.
- Once this has been completed the assessor will review your portfolio and follow up with any required feedback.
- Once you have acknowledged the feedback, the IQA will receive the portfolio.
- The IQA will have the final decision on whether the qualification is complete or if any additional evidence is needed.
All applicants must pass the Construction Skills health and safety test for managers to achieve Gold Skilled CSCS Card
