This course is for anyone wishing to demonstrate occupational competence in operating plant. An NVQ in Plant Operations in a particular item of plant is also required for red CPCS or NPORS-CSCS trained operator card holders to upgrade to the blue competent operator card and so be able to renew it.
Course Content
Units in our Plant Operation NVQs include:
- Adhering to General, Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Preparing and Operating Plant in the Workplace – specialised for required item of plant including: 180 Excavator, 360 Excavator (excavating or extracting), dump truck (rigid or articulated), forklift side-loader, forward tipping dumper, hoist, industrial forklift truck, ride on roller, telescopic handler.
Method
- Once the enrolment process is complete, you will be paired with an assessor.
- The assessor will conduct the initial induction and will work with you to develop your portfolio and map out how each unit can be completed.
- Throughout the NVQ, the assessor will continuously review your progress to make sure that you are on track to completion.
- The assessor will monitor the learner through a variety of ways, such as written questions, professional discussions, evidence generated from the workplace, observations and witness testimonials. The qualification course structure incorporates a selection of mandatory units.
- No matter what machine you are operating, the Plant Operations NVQ has the same set of mandatory units.
- You will need to complete all the required units of the NVQ by providing sufficient evidence for each one.
- Once this has been completed the assessor will review your portfolio and follow up with any required feedback.
- Once you have acknowledged the feedback, the IQA will receive the portfolio.
- The IQA will have the final decision on whether the qualification is complete or if any additional evidence is needed.
All applicants must pass the Construction Skills health and safety test to achieve Blue CPCS Card
